Yeah, it's crazy how much stuff corn hides in. Lettuce gets washed in citric acid from corn... The wax on veggies is from corn... on and on. I have to call about everything and even then I'm not sure. Shopping takes me so long, reading every label. Tiring, but worth it. Since eliminating all that, his invasive sinus fungus hasn't returned and his other allergies are so much more under control.

The strangest irony for me was when he had surgery for his fungus, they gave him a corny IV (dextrose). Nice, eh?

The best both of us felt was when we were on the rotation diet. We stayed on that for quite a while but it was really hard. On the fourth day there was hardly anything we could eat and sometimes I would just cry. Please no amaranth, spinach, sweet potatoes and turkey again. Please no. LOL

We got rid of all corn and soy - really all additives of any kind. I hate to break it to you, but clear alcohol is the very first thing I reacted to in my life. For years I thought I was allergic to alcohol, but it was just corn alcohol. The same goes for vinegar - I thought I was allergic to vinegar for years but it was just distilled vinegar from corn. The next thing was eggs and then wheat and dairy. I thought I was losing my mind being allergic to all those things but it was just corn. I don't have a problem with any of them as long as I buy unenriched wheat and dairy and eggs that aren't washed with corn derivatives.

Corn allergy is horrible in the US even if you only cook from scratch with whole foods because all of our staples are corntaminated. My two teenagers and I are all allergic to corn and soy so odds are you will have trouble with corn, too. I know one thing, as soon as I cut it out a lot of my mysterious health problems resolved that I never would have attributed to a food allergy.

Yeah, my son is completely allergic to corn, but I've not had any problems with it thus far in life. Coconut yes, but not corn. Hope this isn't a trend. (I get potato vodka to make homemade vanilla extract for the kiddo, though, so maybe I should just go back to that!)

The good thing is, I'm finding Dripping Springs again, so Mommy's cocktail hour has returned.

Did you guys get rid of just the GMO corn in your diet or all of it?

I bet the vodka has GMO corn in it. My daughter and I were both diagnosed as asthmatic until we cut out all corn from our diet. Now we no longer have asthma. GMOs are highly allergenic and cause breathing problems in lots of people. BTW, your rescue inhaler probably contains ethanol as a propellant which is made from GMO corn as well. Twisted, isn't it?

Imagine how shocked I was to find that we were being given GMO corn to treat a symptom caused by GMO corn. Weirdly enough I have since realized that this describes our pharmaceutical industry in a nutshell. Without GMO corn, we wouldn't have a pharmaceutical industry, but then again, without GMO corn we might not need one. :)
